So it seems Notch is leaving Mojang. And I can’t say I disagree with his reasons.
I still remember back when Minecraft was still underground - just starting out as the simple Infiniminer-inspired sandbox in it’s $15 alpha version. If I’m remembering this correctly, Notch had caught sight of a few of the Minecraft comics I had made on /v/, and fetched me to meet him on IRC. He asked if I would make a sort of box art. And I came up with this garbage pic. Eugh, it’s so bad. The mediafire link I uploaded it to now has almost 3,000 downloads. It’s an ugly, bloated 16 mb picture. Yeah. It seems even then Minecraft was still relatively popular.
What pleases me is to see Markus still feels like another guy swept up in the storm that is/was Minecraft. I feel like maybe he hasn’t changed from that nice guy I met in that chat room. I was afraid the popularity would change him. But maybe it hasn’t.
